My name is Colin Colchamiro and I am your Key Club president for the 2015-2016 service year. I am a sophomore and have been involved in the THS Key Club since I joined the club at the beginning of my freshman year. From the moment I stepped foot into that first club meeting in the PITT, I fell in love with our club and with this organization.
I was very active in our club from the start, participating in many events and leading the Fish and Chips Dinner and the Valentine’s Day Carnation Sale as the General Member Head. I then ran and won the election for club secretary and served on our Officer Board for the 2014-2015 service year. During my term, I implemented the use of an Hour Award System which awarded active members in our club for their achievements in service hours. I also began releasing monthly service hour newsletters to keep members updated on how many hours they currently have in our club.
My work on the Officer Board opened my eyes to a whole new level of Key Club that I never expected. I liked Key Club on the club level but I loved Key Club when I became familiar with the district and international levels. I met so many people and made so many friends at district events which only made me love Key Club more. I learned that Key Clubbers are amazing servant leaders, not just in Tenafly, but all around the world.
This year, I hope to promote club membership to our whole school, welcoming more students into our club and introducing them to Key Club. I would also like to offer more leadership opportunities within our club, whether through events or committees. It is my belief that Key Club becomes a whole new organization when you become a leader within it. I really hope that members will try new things in the upcoming year, in the hopes that it will change the way they view Key Club, like it changed me.
We have a great club made up of great members, great officers, and a great advisor. With service and fundraising events always happening, there is always something for everyone and always an opportunity to get involved. Whether you are great at selling fish dinners, great at decorating bulletin boards, or just want to help out your home, school, or community, then Key Club is the place for you!
Best of luck in the upcoming service year!
Yours In Caring and Service,
